Harrison River Fishing – Oct 17, 2010

Filed under: Canada, Fishing — K2 in Canada @ 8:03 PM

Believe it or not but I got up at 5AM last Sunday. Jeff and I went to the Harrison River to fish for Coho. It’s a good 1.5hr drive from home and we wanted to get there before the sun hits the water and spooks the fish. Even though I grumble having to get up in the dark, being up for the sunrise is always nice (even though I do it all week). Fishing wasn’t great for us but it was awesome spending a nice sunny and later on warm fall day out in the valley. We walked around a lot looking at bear and raccoon prints in the mud, being screeched at by the eagles and enjoying the smell of dead fish – quite a few dead salmon along the shores of the river. Below are a few pictures of the day.

Harrison River at Sunrise

Fish on!!!

Big Chum - they look ugly but fight well.

I only had nearly dead salmon swim around my legs rather than those nice bright silver once out in the river taking my fly

Very dead salmon - nature's cycle of life

Harrison River mid day - sun is up and the rocks are warmed up for a nap

Golden Eagle and Bold Eagle up in the trees
