Loppet Prep

What does one do to prepare for a 30km long cross-country ski race having barely skied for more than a month?

1) Lower the intensity and amount of training the week before: Easy, I was so sore from weights on Monday that I could hardly move for the rest of the week.

2) Sleep lots and eat lots: Always do that. I made ham & pea soup in the slow cooker on Wednesday for after our night-skiing at Cypress and we ate it all. Almost 2 liters of it 🙂

3) Have a glass of red wine every night – it’s good for the heart: I am sure this one will be most helpful. I should bring something stronger for the event – like the St Bernards in the Alps. I am sure the feed stations along the course won’t have what I need.
