Winter Wonder Land on Feb 27!?

Filed under: Canada, Home — K2 in Canada @ 12:19 PM

We had about 10cm of snow over night here last night – and I was hoping spring is just around the corner. The snow made the drive home yesterday from Callaghan a bit more challenging. The highway was fine but trying to get through Vancouver with all its hills was a minor nightmare. The truck has 4×4 and handles 3 cm of snow without a problem but there are many more cars than trucks in the city and most of those do not have winter tires (our Golf doesn’t). The City of Vancouver and snow are NOT compatible. The rest of Canada laughs at us when they see the traffic chaos caused by an inch of snow. But we laugh when we see the Eastern cities buried in ice or snow with temperatures well below freezing for 6-8 month of the year.

A couple of pictures from this morning while I was watching a Blue Jay hide peanuts in the snow  nursing my still pending cold from inside the house (unfortunately I didn’t get a shot of the Blue Jay):
