The weekend summer finally arrived – Jul 28-29

Filed under: Canada, Home — K2 in Canada @ 7:07 PM

It took a LONG time this year for summer to kick in – late July!! But finally it was warm enough for shorts and T-shirt. We didn’t go away that weekend for two reasons:

1) I was racing at Burnaby Lake on Sunday – my first sprint regatta this season with very little training (all those fishing trips and the cold weather). It went okay, just as expected but it was a lot of fun with lots of racing for one day. K1 -1000,500,200 heats and final, K2-1000 with Jodi, C4-200 with Diane, Lawrence and Elliot.

2) I was our good friend Keith’s 65th birthday and his daughter was throwing him a surprise party in Coquitlam which is much closer to us than Peachland were Keith and Mary now live. It was a fun party with good food and great company.

But before the party Jeff and I went mountain biking in the Seymour demonstration forest. I had been there quite a while back and remembered the trails to be easy enough for me. And it was agreat day – the forest is very beautiful, so is the river. We followed the road up and then the trail to the fish hatchery, crossed the river, had to climb this steep little rise and returned on the other side of the river, crossing back over half way back and followed the lower river trail for a while before cutting back up to the road. Great 2.5hrs of riding!
