Training session

Filed under: Canada, Kayak — K2 in Canada @ 6:21 PM

Well, the sun only lasted one day and we were back to clouds today. Still cold though!! But the rain held off till mid day! We had an early masters practise today (8am) – joining in with the CKBC fall training camp kids. I got to shake hands with Olympic bronze medalist Mark Oldershaw!!!

This mornings session was my favourite workout – NOT. Wash riding for 12min on 2min off. I HATE waves. The first set was a right off as usual. There were 20+ paddlers out on the lake and with everyone starting up almost together, there was a lot of wash. Took me 12 min to catch up with the other girls – I was in a group with all the young girls. After that first set though it started to go okay. I will never get good at it but at least I got onto wash once in a while. We weren’t really going hard so it was easy enough. Even banged boats once and didn’t fall in. It actually started to be fun after a while. It’s so great to train with a bigger group and being push into things that I would usually never do. Brian Hammer was our on the water coach and he did a great job controlling the chaos 🙂

Not in the thick of it but on wash…
