Ski to Sea

2 days into the 3 day Easter weekend with sunshine and warm temperatures. I can’t believe it is still March!! A full week of sunshine!

SunnyWeekMarch

Yesterday we went skiing in Callaghan Valley with a mix of sun and clouds. First 2hrs on skates up “Madeley Lake” and “How it Goes”, followed by another 1hr 25min on classics around “Madeley Creek” and “Around the World”. In between we were sitting outside on the Lodge’s balcony enjoying the sun, muffins and a banana. Snow was a bit soft and slow but skiing was fun. Not quite warm enough for T-shirt and shorts I thought but some people already had stripped off their winter skiing clothes. I was pretty hot on the classic ski – good reason to go even slower 🙂

Today we went for a paddle. De-dusted our double surfski and drove out to Jericho Beach. Forecast was for no wind really but out there we had a steady breeze pushing against an outgoing tide which made for some wave action – more than I had been in in a LONG time. So good thing we were in the double. We went out way past the red bell can and surfed some waves back in. 1hr 40min which seemed short but I was getting tired – slacker! Afterwards we sat outside “The Galley” overlooking English Bay and enjoying some yam fries. To top that we had ice cream – but the guy behind the counter was a bit confused seems like he gave us double scoops for the price of singles – and walked along the beach for another hour. What a great day – not a cloud in the sky.
