Lots of fog, rain and snow

Filed under: Canada — K2 in Canada @ 11:22 PM

Most people probably would not call this a nice weekend but I enjoyed it quite a lot. On Saturday I went for a 2hr paddle with John in Deep Cove. It was cold (less than 5) and VERY foggy. But the fog just makes Indian Arm look even prettier and more remote. Jeff went for a trail run while we paddled.

Today we went skiing in Manning. They had 7cm of new snow last night and the tracks, even though a bit filled in, were in good shape. I wasn’t quite in such a good shape but that didn’t stop me from skiing for 3hrs doing the big loop. The loppet is only 2 weeks away. It was a pretty nice day out there with a bit of snow and a very short glimpse of sunshine and we finished just before the rain started. The most exciting thing was the Canadian Rescue Helicopter that circled right above us when we were getting our skis out at the lodge. It was loud! The helicopter, a Commodore, actually landed in the parking lot on the other side of the lodge blowing snow all over the place.  It is HUGE!
