More Snow

Filed under: Canada, Ski — K2 in Canada @ 8:18 PM

Catching up on blogging. Last Saturday, Dec 10, was a mostly slushy, rainy, grey unseasonable cold, 3C, day in Vancouver. We were slow to get going. Too cold to paddle but up too late to go skiing? Nope, by 11AM or so we hit the road to drive up into Callaghan Valley once more. It was raining along the upper levels highway in North and West Van, the had less snow than us, but as soon as we turned the corner towards Howe Sound it turned to snow and we entered Winterwonderland. Just like that. It was beautiful. It snowed on and off all the way to WOP. Traffic was relatively light and we made good time. It was lightly snowing at WOP and they had groomed a few more trails. For the first time ever I skied Biathalon and then worked my way up Norwegian Woods towards Madeley Lake Rd and back down Madeley Rd. Even though I still don’t have my ski legs it was a nice day out followed by a nice Mediterranean wrap and Guinness at the Shady Tree.
